This 2-day ONLINE academy is designed for individuals who are seeking initial training qualifications for teacher evaluation. This academy aligns with the competencies for Part 50, Section 50.420 (a-b).

**Day 2 includes the training assessment which may extend past the 3:30 session end time.

Pre-work is required for this training and MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO 7/18/25!!Please be advised you will not be admitted to the class unless the pre-work assignment(s) is completed.

Before the Crisis: Implementing Best Practices in Student Behavioral Threat Assessments - AA #1876

Illinois state law (105 ILCS 128/45 Sec. 45) requires every school to have a threat assessment team established and threat assessment procedures developed and implemented. This workshop will provide an overview of the new legal requirements as well as provide you with training that is considered “best practice” by the US Dept of Education and the US Secret Service.

Objectives:
By the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the skills and information obtained by implementing the system through hands-on activities and potential threat scenarios
  • Identify specific types of threats, how to develop a student safety assessment and management team
  • Use scripted protocols to handle situations with fidelity, and establish a plan for the reintegration of the student(s) into the school environment

This IN-PERSON course will be held at the ROE 4 Office, Winnebago Room, 300 Heart Blvd, Loves Park, IL 61111. Participant will be responsible for the registration fee unless cancellation notice is received by the ROE 4 office within 7 business days of the training. Refunds will not be processed unless this criteria is met.

This ONLINE course will examine what staff needs to know to reduce bullying and harassment and appropriately intervene when it is observed, including how to help parents and students. In addition, the course will review the key components of state and federal law related to the Racism-Free Schools Law, the rights of transgender students, and other pertinent and related legal issues.

Participants will be able to:

  • understand the unique and subtle qualities of cyber-bullying and the role of school staff and parents related to prevention and intervention
  • utilize strategies to promote civility and social responsibility in the classroom and throughout the campus
  • provide appropriate support and resources to parents, staff, and students related to bullying and harassment - electronically and otherwise
  • understand legal vulnerability and the strategies to avoid litigation or to prevail if litigation occurs.
