Substitute Teaching Information

Promoting quality education, leadership, and support for the Districts of Boone-Winnebago Counties

Substitute Teachers MUST hold a valid educator license (requiring at least a bachelor's degree) which is registered with the Regional Superintendent of Schools in the county where they will be employed. Substitute Teacher Packets are available in our office or you may print it from the links below. All paperwork is due at the time of fingerprinting. Please refer to the checklist to ensure all steps are completed.

This is only the first step in the process to begin working as a substitute teacher in our region and does not guarantee employment. You will also need to contact each district in which you are interested in working for further instructions as to their employment and notification procedures. You will not begin receiving calls until you complete this process AND inform the individual school districts of your availability. Please refer to the district contact list above.

Results of your criminal background results are generally received within 1-2 weeks. You are entitled to a copy of these results and will be notified via e-mail when they are available. Our office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday and a valid photo ID will be required to receive these and all other documents. After 30 days of receiving your notification, our office will retain electronic copies but all paper files will be destroyed.
